At work
Richard joined de Mellow out of university, and has worked here for more than 10 years.
Richard’s role is to help clients build a financial plan that reflects what matters most to them, rather than simply focusing on products or investments. Together with clients, he establishes clear objectives, ensures their money is structured appropriately for both current and future needs, and gives them the confidence to make informed financial decisions.
A significant part of Richard’s approach is centred around behavioural finance and cashflow planning. Richard believes that long-term financial success is driven as much by behaviour as investment performance, and that understanding what “enough” looks like is fundamental to achieving financial wellbeing.
Richard predominantly works with working professionals, business owners, and families looking to grow, protect, and ultimately enjoy their wealth. Whether planning for retirement, navigating major life events, or preserving wealth for future generations, his focus is on providing clear, long-term advice that helps clients achieve their aspirations with confidence.
At home
Outside of the office, Richard enjoys spending time with family and friends, a good lunch, and keeping active through sport. He proudly sponsors United Services Rugby Club, enjoys watching rugby, and captains a local football team on Monday evenings.
Richard is also an avid reader with a particular interest in history, current affairs, and politics. When not working or socialising, you’ll usually find him following Southampton Football Club – a hobby that’s certainly taught him resilience over the years!

Meeting people and discussing their hopes and ambitions for their futures, and working with a growing and aspirational business that forever seeks to learn and be at the forefront of change. I also enjoy giving families peace of mind and a clear vision and plan for the future in keeping with their values and goals.
