Charlee takes a new role as operations director – Your de Mellow & Co team update
In this month’s team update, we’re speaking to Charlee Lovell. Charlee has recently stepped into the role of operations director here at de Mellow, which marks an important change for us as a business.
With that in mind, we thought we’d take this opportunity to formally welcome Charlee into her new role and to let you know a little more about what Charlee’s day to day will look like, as well as how, if at all, it will affect you.
So, without further delay, over to Charlee…
Hi Charlee, congratulations on your new role. Can you tell us a little more about what it entails?
As operations director, I’ll work closely with our directors and team leaders to turn the wider vision for de Mellow & Co into clear priorities and practical action.
A big part of the role will be listening to the people who do the work every day, understanding what’s working well, where things feel harder than they need to, and what support the company can offer that would make a tangible difference.
That might mean improving a process, making better use of our systems, or helping teams work more closely together. This all means there is a lot of variety in the role.
But running through it all will be keeping our clients at the heart of every decision we make, and that’s really exciting.
What will the role mean for the business and our clients?
As de Mellow & Co grows, my role is to help ensure our teams, systems, and processes grow with it. That includes looking at how work moves between teams, where we can make things simpler, and how we can give people the support they need to do their best work.
For clients, the impact should be felt in the everyday experience of working with us: clear communication, a smooth transition from one stage of their financial planning journey to the next, and a team that has the time to give them the personal attention they deserve.
Our relationships with our clients are at the centre of everything we do, so the aim is to strengthen the work that already goes on behind the scenes to support these relationships.
What are you looking forward to most about your new role?
I’ve always enjoyed being at the heart of how the business works, bringing people together, solving problems, and finding better ways of doing things.
I’m looking forward to hearing ideas from across the team and helping turn those ideas into changes that make a real difference. It will be rewarding to see those ideas take shape and know we’re making progress towards our shared future and the company’s bigger picture.
What has your career journey been like to get here?
I’ve been with de Mellow & Co for almost seven years and have been fortunate to work in several different areas of the business.
Those roles have given me a real understanding of our clients’ experience, the work our teams do, and what our advisers need day to day to continue delivering great advice.
My previous roles have also shown me how much can be achieved when people work together and have the right support around them. I’m excited to bring all of that experience into my new role as operations director.
And away from de Mellow & Co?
Life outside of work is busy too. It usually involves keeping up with my toddler, who has a fuller social calendar than I do! Weekends are rarely quiet, with plenty of time spent seeing friends and family and getting out and about.
Thanks again, Charlee, and all the best for your new role from the whole de Mellow team.
