In your latest de Mellow & Co team update, read about some exciting news for Chartered financial planner Gabriel, an impressive result for our five-a-side football team at their first ever tournament, and everything you need to know about our 2026 Charity Golf Day, including how you can take part.

Gabriel has been nominated for the Chartered Institute “Rising Star” award

On Friday 3 July 2026, the Insurance Institute of Southampton (part of the Chartered Institute, or CII) celebrated the exceptional achievements, dedication, and talent within our local insurance and financial services community.

One of the CII’s Rising Star award nominees was our own Gabriel Hooton, who was recognised alongside a handful of his peers all singled out for representing the future of our profession while demonstrating outstanding potential, commitment, and impact.

In the words of the Insurance Institute of Southampton:

“Your passion, professionalism, and drive truly set you apart; we are delighted to recognise your achievements.”

Huge congratulations to Gabriel from the whole de Mellow & Co team; the recognition is thoroughly deserved, and we’re all extremely proud!

de Mellow & Co head out onto the course for our annual Charity Golf Day

Our annual de Mellow & Co Charity Golf Day in aid of the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation takes place on 4 September at the Skylark Country Club. And there’s still time to take part.

If you would like to play on the day, or if you own a business (or know of a business) that might like to support the event, please get in touch with Freya (freya.stanger@sjpp.co.uk) via email before 5 August.

Thanks to your generosity and support, our 2025 Charity Golf Day raised more than £8,000 for the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation, and this year we’re aiming higher.

As usual, if you opt to attend, you’re welcome to bring a guest. We look forward to seeing you all for a fun day of friendly competition supporting a fantastic cause.

Football fever continues at the Business Fives Ltd tournament

In July, de Mellow & Co entered a team in our local Business Fives Ltd five-a-side football tournament for the first time.

The day began with registration and networking. Then came the fierce but friendly competition, followed by drinks, a buffet, and presentations.

Our side made it to the final, where they ultimately lost despite a valiant display.

Well done to everyone involved. It was a great day for a great cause!
